Week 14 - Idiocracy

Idiocracy

We watched a film called Idiocracy (dir. Mike Judge [2006]). It was an interesting story because I did not think/believe that the future would look like that. I pictured the world to be like Back to the Future 2; with all hover boards, flying cars, etc.

Everyone has their own creativity and in-take on what the future will hold for us. In this movie is a very interesting in-take on the future. There is actually a very big possibility that there will be a trash avalanche and the world will look filthy. If the economy crashes or continues to crash, I believe the people in this movie will be like what people will actually be in the future.

Week 13 - The Aquatic Uncle

The Aquatic Uncle

I feel like this story has a little bit of a genre of a drama/fantasy. The story is interesting because it has a part of fantasy that the uncle is a fish! I couldn’t tell who/what the nephew is but I think it is a mammal of some sort with paws.

I thought it was a little confusing at first of what was happening, though. But when Lii was introduced it got a little more interesting. This is where the elements of the drama genre come in.

I think it wasn’t a super important or necessary distinction but I think it has some value of it in this story. I never really had much experience with the story with the questions asked but I know quite a few people would have some, if not a lot of experience with the story in this way.

Week 10 - Aye, And Gomorrah

Aye, And Gomorrah

We read this short story in class and then we discussed what we thought about this story.

A lot of people thought it was interesting on how they portrayed the sexual tensity. I didn’t see as much as everyone was saying they saw. I saw the sexuality more towards the end of the story. The discussions in class was a lot different than what I would’ve thought about this story.

I was a little confused on who was who and what was what but I still got the story down. I think its interesting how the narrator character was flirting with the girl.
